About

Welcome to “Security to the Core,” a security blog from Arbor Networks. For those of you who don’t already know Arbor Networks, we deliver core-to-core network security and operational performance for global business networks — from the core of the largest tier-one service providers to the core of Fortune 1000 enterprise networks. Since our inception, we’ve been conducting cutting-edge research on network availability, malware and flow-based monitoring. As such, we decided it was time to share with you our thought leadership via a blog. Our intention is to have the blog serve as a security information resource that helps you truly understand the global scope of some of the more prevalent threats around on the Internet today.

On this blog, you will hear from some of our best and brightest, including members of the Arbor Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT). Additionally, you will hear occasionally from a few guest bloggers, who are some of our friends that you’re certain to recognize as industry thought leaders. We’ll be talking about industry breaking news and trends, new vulnerabilities, exploits and malware, and security tools, among other things. “Security to the Core” will also host a variety of Arbor-written tools, research reports, and presentations that will keep you abreast of the latest and greatest work being done by our security experts.

BTW, if you haven’t already heard, ASERT is Arbor’s team responsible for evaluating burgeoning Internet-scale threats that could cause significant infrastructure damage to Arbor Networks customers. The group has a tremendous amount of practical experience in the fields of vulnerability and exploits research, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) signature development, host-based Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) development, and malware analysis. With names like Jeff Nathan, Jose Nazario, Dug Song and Mark Zielinski, expect to see some interesting commentary.

This blog is for you, and we really encourage you to engage with us on anything we post – good or bad! As we get rolling, we hope that you’ll find as much value from our thoughts as do our customers.
